For Your Inspiration: Jenn Andrews

When you’re faced with the unexpected, your life can change in an instant. Only you have the power to let it bring you down or turn it into a positive. Jenn created a movement, and we are so inspired by her story.

Three and a half years ago, just a few weeks after getting started with Isagenix, Jenn was diagnosed with cancer. What started as a small nodule on her right foot during her pregnancy with her daughter, Hannah, had turned into a lump the size of a golf ball 14 months later while pregnant with her son, Ari.

The mass was thought to be benign, but Jenn had surgery to have it removed. Unfortunately, at a post-op appointment, Jenn received news that the mass was actually a low-grade myxoid sarcoma.

She was scheduled for regular scans to ensure her cancer did not return. Unfortunately, three years after receiving her first diagnosis, Jenn received more devastating news.

Her cancer had re-emerged as a layered tumor that now covered most of her foot. She asked her doctor what the best course of action was if she wanted to get rid of the cancer for good, and his answer was to eliminate her right foot.

“I remember that moment like no other,” Jenn wrote on her blog. “My jaw fell, and my eyes welled with tears. I could see his mouth moving, but I couldn’t hear a word.”

#MoveForJenn

In that moment, Jenn knew her life was going to change forever, but she also knew that she was going to get through it. She had the incredible spirit to turn something so painful into something to help others.

On March 7, a few days before her surgery to amputate her right foot, Jenn got on Facebook Live and asked a favor of her friends.

“Go for a run, go for a walk, do whatever you can,” she said. “Monday, my whole life will change forever. I know I’m gonna get myself back, but I know it’s gonna take a while, and my request for all my Facebook friends is to get out and move on Monday, for me.”

Little did Jenn know, she had just started a movement that would inspire thousands all over the country and across the world. From her Isagenix team to people she had never met before to those who worked out every day and those who hadn’t exercised in years, all were inspired to get out and #MoveForJenn.

Throughout this diagnosis, Jenn admits that she was not always brave and that she’s taken time to grieve and be upset. In those moments, and in many others, she has been extremely grateful for the freedom her Isagenix business has given her in taking care of herself and her family.

When she learned she was going to lose her foot, Jenn was able to take the time she needed to mourn, and now, she can take the time she needs to recover while still helping to support her family.

“It’s been a blessing to work with a company that allows me to put my health and my family first,” she says.

Jenn is currently planning to run a 5K race by the end of the year, and she and her husband, Miles, have a goal to create their own 5K for charity in the future. Once she is fully recovered, Jenn will also be a patient advocate for others going through similar operations.

She and Miles are currently in the process of starting the Move For Jenn Foundation, which will focus on spreading sarcoma awareness, funding sarcoma research, and helping others fund activewear prosthetics to get back to running, exercising, and everyday life.

“It’s so important to take things day by day and never miss a moment,” says Jenn. “It’s easy to get caught up in things that don’t matter, but this has taught me more than anything to focus on what matters in my life and in my family’s life and to be grateful for what I have.”
